Avron Kreichman is a child, adolescent and family psychiatrist at UNM where he provides training and education to medical and behavioral health students, trainees, and providers. He supervises UNM continuing education in behavioral health at UNM state-and nation-wide. He is a Co-Principal Investigator on ASPYR (Alliance-building for Suicide Prevention and Youth Resilience) which aims to reduce youth suicide by providing advanced clinical training as well as bringing together youth and stakeholders to form statewide suicide prevention Youth and Advisory Councils. He is the Co-Principal Investigator on NMSBIRT, a collaboration with BHSD aimed at identifying, reducing, and preventing problematic use, abuse, and dependence on alcohol and illicit drugs. He is a certified trainer in over three dozen behavioral health-related practices, with special interests in strengths-based collaborative psychosocial interventions, school mental health, telehealth, integrated care, and community engagement.
