Building Community & Connection: Icebreakers, Check-ins, & Virtual Activities




Session Description

Looking for ways to build deeper connections with your students in an online setting? Do you want to build community in meaningful ways?  This engaging workshop will demonstrate a selection of virtual interactive activities that build connection and bolster social emotional learning.  Come participate in a variety of fun, engaging activities that incorporate group bonding and connection through creative check-ins, icebreakers, and energy shifting activities. You’ll also receive a toolkit with virtual activities and additional resources.

Learning Objectives

     #1 Participants will be able to describe the different types and purposes of virtual activities. 
     #2 Participants will be able to name two or more virtual activities.

     #3 Participants will be able to identify resources for leading virtual activities. 

About the Presenter

Jenn Jevertson, M.S., Prevention Coordinator, Office of Student Wellness, Sante Fe Public Schools
Jenn Jevertson, M.S., is the Prevention Coordinator for the Office of Student Wellness of the Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS), and oversees the District’s wellness and prevention efforts. Additionally, she oversees the SFPS Safe Zones Program and the Gender Support Plan process for transgender and gender nonconforming students, as well as serving on SFPS’s Diversity and Equity Council. Jenn has over eighteen years of experience utilizing experiential education and therapeutic adventure methodologies with children, youth, adults, schools, and organizations. Her expertise includes the content areas of experiential education, bullying, suicide, substance use, anti-bias, anti-oppression, gender/sexuality, and youth-driven work, and is an experienced trainer and facilitator.
