Rachel White, MA Ed
Session #21

Rachel White is the Refugee Point of Contact for APS. She was previously an English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) teacher at Highland High School in Albuquerque. She has been working with beginning level ESL students for over ten years. She was employed as a teacher at the Nahed Chapman New American Academy, a nationally recognized newcomer center for refugees and new immigrants to the United States, while she attended graduate school in St. Louis, Missouri. Rachel has worked extensively with refugees and new immigrants through volunteer organizations and teaching as a K-12 teacher in school districts across the country. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education and her B.A. in Spanish from the UNM and her M.A. Ed. in Secondary Education – TESOL from the University of Missouri, Saint Louis. She was recently accepted into the Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies Doctoral Program at the University of New Mexico.
