Rachel Nowak Mitchell
Session #61

Rachel was a long-time educator on the Navajo Nation and in inner-city Oakland, CA before she became an education consultant. She has developed and presented trainings on curriculum-mapping and design, cultural responsiveness, and social and emotional learning. She also worked on school and district level implementation of the Common Core State Standards, primarily in BIE and tribal schools across the country. She currently does work with the Center for the Education and Study of Diverse Populations through Highlands University around family-school partnerships and also manages the NewMexicoKids Resource and Referral line for the state of New Mexico through UNM; a free service which connects families to support services such as child care, home visiting programs, basic needs resources, and financial assistance. Rachel lives in the beautiful state of New Mexico with her three boys and her dog.
